Sally Dillman Eaves

Sally Dillman Eaves“I count it a privilege to be involved at Wayland,” says Sally Eaves, BS ’75.

Sally says her time as a student was one where the professors knew her by name and took the time to get to know her personally.

She recounts the summer before her senior year when things were not going as planned. She was struggling mentally and physically. One night she received a phone call from Dr. J. Hoyt Bowers, who told her the Lord had placed her on his mind and inquired about what was going on and how he could help her. Dr. Bowers and his wife, Joann, picked up Sally and brought her to their home, where they prayed with her and talked about her future. “Nowhere else would a professor and his wife care enough about a student to invite them to their home and pray for them,” Sally says.

Through the years, Sally has served on Wayland’s Board of Trustees; Sally Society, a women’s philanthropy group named after the first lady; and the Alumni Board. One of the things the alum is the most grateful for is how Wayland holds true to its mission of educating students in an academically challenging, learning-focused, and distinctively Christian environment for professional success, as well as service to God and humankind.

Sally and many of her family members, including two of her children, are proud Pioneers! She loves knowing that her gifts go to support the next generation of students.
