Randy Johnson's connection with Wayland Baptist University started in 1987 at Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu, Hawaii. Randy said, "Wayland made it easy for me and many of my military intelligence colleagues to attend school and finish a degree quickly.”

He wasn't the typical college student; instead, he was a military member seeking a flexible and faith-based education tailored to his unique circumstances. After retiring from the military, Randy served in several high-capacity positions, such as managing the 450-person intelligence department at the Joint Intelligence Center Pacific at Pearl Harbor, Senior Executive at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, and is currently serving as the President and CEO of FGS, LLC, a provider of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) for multiple Department of Defense and Intelligence Community organizations. Randy credits where he is today to Wayland because of the quality education he received.

Over the past few years, Randy began thinking about the importance of giving back. One of the first places he decided to support financially was Wayland. His goal was straightforward: to be a helping hand for future generations.

"Wayland is a treasure," he said. "As time goes on, I have recognized how much better Wayland made my life.”

Wayland’s significance to Randy lies in its unwavering commitment to faith and Christian values. The university's caring staff and faculty provided students with an exceptional education grounded in faith, setting them on a path to positively impact the world. To Randy, Wayland was a shining example of what an institution with solid values could achieve.

His message to potential supporters is simple: "Supporting Wayland is a wise investment, with the returns measured in the success stories of every graduate." His only regret was not starting his journey of giving back sooner, a testament to the profound influence Wayland had on his life.
